”Some people care too much… I think it’s called love.”

    -Winnie the Pooh

Sunny has been adopted by Shirley & Dave who originally fostered Sunny when she retired from racing 9 years ago.  As Shirley said, “she is now back home where she belongs.”

Sunny in her new, sewed with love, jammies

”We love her dearly and am pretty sure with how she reacted when she saw us and heard me call her “Sunny, Sunny Sunshine” she knew us… She will be with us forever! Thank you to OGGA for allowing us to have her for as long as God allows.”

“Above is Sunny with her new Sunshine collar… When I agreed to adopt her last week, I knew that at 14 1/2 we may not have very much time with her. However, I was not prepared for the news from the vet today. Sunny had been wheezing more the last couple days, so I took her in today to be checked. A chest xray revealed at least 5 growths…. prayers that we can keep her as comfortable as possible until we have to say Goodbye, a lot sooner than I had ever planned… it is so unfair….”

    People ask…
How are we able to let our foster greyhounds go when they leave for their forever-home….
How we can love so strongly knowing their lives are so short…
How we cope with the pain of illness such as cancer…
How we cope  with the death of our beloved greyhounds…
How does one answer these questions?
If they have never loved another so passionately, then no answer will make sense to them.

Many of us in OGGA are grateful there are persons such as Sunny’s family that take the chance…to us, the pain we may experience  is minor to the LOVE greyhounds bring to our lives.

Please keep Sunny & her family in your thoughts and prayers during  the coming days.
