    Carol Anne (Stoner) Scarpino

A year ago today a wonderful lady, Carol Scarpino, lost her battle with colon cancer.

Carol was the mom of three greyhounds and one schnauzer.

    Lily Scarpino -- age 13 1/2 years

Cesar Scarpino age 12 1/2 years.

Chevy, the baby at 9 years old.

Chester the Schnauzer was 11 years old.

Carol’s greyhounds were a special Christmas gift to Rose and

    Valerie on December 22, 2011.

Chevy made his home with Rose in Louisville

Chevy’s new family consisted of greyhounds; Tornado, Joanie, Romeo and kitty, Cookie.

Lily and Cesar moved to Kettering Ohio

Lily & Cesar’s new family included greyhound Angie, and 3 very noisy poodles, Jewell, Kobi & Teegan.

Chester remained at home in Massillon

Chester went to being the only dog in what originally was his “big” family.

Now just a year later we are missing Carol, Lily, Cesar and Chevy.

Lily passed on January 27, 2011 from Osteosarcoma.

Cesar went to be with Mom Carol & Lily on November 4, 2011

Chevy lost his battle with Osteosarcoma on November 29, 2011.

Chester is still with family in Massillon

Though we miss Carol, Lily, Cesar and Chevy very much this

holiday season—we are also GREYTFUL that they came into our lives.

It occurs to me that every time I lose a dog, he takes a piece of my heart with him.
Then every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of his heart.
Therefore if I should live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog…
and I will then become as generous and loving as they are.

  2. I t is times like this that makes me proud to have a loving Greyhound Family….thank you , Val for the wonderful way you put all the memories on the website…sure brings only happy tears to my eyes..

  3. John and I are still numb from the pain of losing Rosie Marie and his german shepherd, Anya…but it was wonderful seeing pics of Carol and her “furkids” and remembering what a wonderful and special LADY she was to not only people through her nursing career, but to the Greyhounds as well!
We hope that Aunt Carol was waiting at the bridge when our “kids” came flying into her view! We know that she’ll look after them for us until we can all reunite!!! LOVE YOU CAROL!!!

  4. This has been a challenging year for our family dealing with Carol’s passing and then my husband’s journey with a liver transplant in October. Today, on the one year anniversary of her “rebirth”, I remember my sister and best friend with happy memories and gratitude that she was in my life for the time God allowed. It’s no coincidence that she has all her greyhounds around her now. She was an amazing woman who left her fingerprints on many causes over the years, but the one closest to her heart were the greyhounds. Thanks to all of the greyhound group for their support to our family, especially Wendy, Rose and Connie, Carol’s fellow “divas”.

  5. Love and miss you Carol and those wonderful fur kids of yours.

  6. A Beautiful Tribute–many tears shed.
