John and I would like to thank all of you who sent us positive thoughts and included us in your prayers.  John is in remission and will have regular checkups and 4 additional treatments in the next two years.  We are trying to relax and take in our great good fortune. John is still tired but is feeling better everyday.

This event is hosted by Wooster-based therapy group Paws to Pet.

Quailcrest Gardens is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon helping to find forever homes for retired-racing greyhounds.

You can find this event listed on Facebook  for more information.

 

You do not need to be a  member of OGGA to volunteer your time–if you enjoy animals, want to learn about greyhounds and spend an enjoyable afternoon among fellow animal lovers, OGGA would appreciate your participation at our event(s).

Consider fostering a retired-racing greyhound…

Greyhounds are the most important part of OGGA’s rescue and adoption mission, we couldn’t do what we do for the greyhounds without the foster home network!  We are in  need of more Foster Homes! If you own a greyhound now, or if you are thinking about adopting a greyhound, fostering is a great way to help OGGA and become familiar with a greyhound.

The foster family helps the dog learn the following:

  • Walk on tile floors
  • Realize glass is hard and screens can be broken
  • Not to cruise the kitchen counters or to beg
  • Go up and down stairs
  • Enjoy other family pets
  • Give kisses and receive kisses
  • And  to move happily from its foster home to its loving permanent adoptive home!

We are in need of  volunteers for the Akron Expo Event at Hardesty Park on Saturday, June 11th in Akron. The more people we get to volunteer the shorter the shifts to man the OGGA booth during the 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m event.

If you are not a member of OGGA and/or do not own a greyhound, but interested in learning about our organization please consider volunteering to help at one of our events.  It’s a lot of fun for the greys and the people!

Since this event runs  4 days it would be nice to have some additional people and greyhounds  come out to PetSmart #523 during the weekend event.  It can be a long time for the greyhounds and their humans when we are short volunteers for an event such as this.

PetSmart Charities donates $35 to OGGA for each  greyhound adoption we get during this event.  It is also National Adopt-A-Greyhound month so it is a great time to get the word out on these wonderful dogs.

If you have  just 30 minutes you can give to OGGA for this event please contact Pat Tidwell so that she can add you to the schedule.

  • September 19th at Wildwood Park in Louisville, this is our Reunion and picnic 11-3
  • October 3rd at Hoover Park, North Canton 12-5   Mutt Strut

Another membership meeting  is schedule for August 29th at Russ and Wendy’s house following a covered dish lunch at 12:00 to discuss the final plans for the reunion.
