The upcoming weekend is a very busy one for us greyhounds!!!

We will be doing Meet & Greets at 2 places on Saturday (9/10)

 Sunday  is our GREYHOUND GATHERING where we get to show everyone how beautiful, talented, graceful, loving and FAST we are! 

Come out to 1, 2 or all 3 of our events—you will be happy you did because we guarantee it will be a GREYT TIME with all the greyhounds and their families!!!

The Alliance Elder Beerman store invited OGGA greyhound families to join in their Kid’s Sale Event next weekend.  Anyone that would enjoy giving their time to help at this event please contact:

These events are a nice way to promote OGGA’s mission of rescuing the hounds we adore so much.  Many people that come into the store have never seen a greyhound up close.  This is a way for them to learn about greyhounds,  how they interact with children, and consider fostering/adopting a greyhound.

OGGA would appreciate anyone willing to help by  donating an hour their time to promote our cause to Elder Beerman shoppers during these days.

The 2011 St. Pet’s Day was a GREYT success!!!

The Akron Celtic Club’s month long St. Pet’s event that had donations of dry dog and cat food plus kitty litter being dropped off at Summit, Stark and Portage County fire stations throughout the month of March has ended.

Jim Collver said St. Pet’s Day, sponsored by the Celtic Club, started seven years ago, but it wasn’t a pet food drive back then. Collver organized free Irish concerts and asked people to bring pet food up until last year, when he got fire departments involved.

Since the beginning, it’s been about having something out of the ordinary to do for St. Patrick’s Day. Last year’s drive took place the week leading up to the holiday, while this year’s spans the entire month of March.

This past Saturday, April 9th, the collected pet food and cat litter was distributed among the counties’ dog wardens. From there, humane and animal rescue groups picked up the items.

A big THANKS goes out to all that took part in St. Pet’s Day to make it a success.  The donations of pet food have truly helped animal organizations which have been hurting during the economic troubles.
